CTX Lecture 4 "Visual Language"

For this week lecture, Mr Choy had talk about visual language.

So, what is visual language ?

Visual language is a system of communication using visual elements.

Mr Choy had talk about Roland Barthes who was a French literary philosopher best known for influencing structuralism, semiotics and anthropology. To examine the relationship between text and image, Barthes chooses to focus on compositions from advertising. In advertising, the reader can be sure that signification is always intentional.

He also talk about the purpose of the advertisement. So, the purpose of the advertisement is to communicate the positive qualities of the product as clearly as possible to the chosen audience.
